I was given the honor of working on a couple of scars that were the result of multiple lymph nodes being removed three years ago from the left axilla (armpit).
The client stated that for the last six months she has been experiencing restricted range of motion in the left shoulder, pain in the left hip and left leg. Knowing that the shoulder and the hip muscle train are connected, I decided to work on the scars ONLY (no Bowenwork) for the first session and see what the body unwinds on its own.

As you can see from the picture, the scars are deep and have puckered the skin. You can also see where the tissues are pulled and being tugged on.

When palpating the area, I could feel little rope-like strings of scar-tissue/adhesions as well as lumpy pads of scar tissue. Very light pressure evoked a response when moving from “numb” tissue to tissue that had become hypersensitive.
After the first set of passes, we found places that were sore, areas she didn’t even know were sore. I did a few more passes over these areas. I could feel scar tissue melt under my touch and the whole area opened up and smoothed out. I asked her to touch the area again and see what she noticed. She said “Oh WOW! The lumps are gone, that’s amazing!”
We stopped the session at this time to give the body the next few days to a week to make any more changes and adjust to this release of tissues, increased lymph drainage, new blood flow, and nerve conduction. At the next session, we will see what further changes have taken place in the shoulder. You can see from the top left and bottom left pictures that the shoulder started releasing immediately. We will check the hip pain and range of motion at the next visit as well as the other “sore” spots we found.
McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release® technique, or MSTR, is truly a breakthrough therapy in treating post-surgical and injury/trauma scars. It is also proving highly effective in releasing scar tissue where there is no visible scar! I am also noticing in my practice that releasing the scar tissue’s effect on the body is giving many clients new and/or increased effectiveness with their Bowenwork sessions!
